Aspac Energy LLC (Aspac Energy) is an American subsidiary of Aspac Mining Group and is based in Houston, Texas. It consolidates the expertise in power generation required both for Group projects in the development of energy resources – coal, unconventional gas and geothermal – and the utilisation of these resources to produce commercial baseload electricity crucial to regional growth and industrialisation.

The Aspac Mining Group consists of both publicly listed and private companies each with their focused expertise. It is currently involved in coal production in Tanzania and exploration in the East Central African region and in Indochina. It is drilling for unconventional gas – Coal Bed Methane and Shale Gas – in Indonesia and starting exploration in Tanzania and the region.

Aspac Energy’s concentration is focused on successful and innovative development of highly efficient electric generating plants which has been the background of its President and CEO, Walter J. Balcer. Mr. Balcer has developed, designed and constructed over 10,000MWs of generation plants since his beginning in the power industry in 1985. In addition, Aspac Energy has the ability to source specific expertise and engage leading consultants and EPC companies through its large network of relationships in the electricity generating industry, thereby bringing effective economies to power development.

Aspac Energy believes that opportunities will develop for innovative conventional coal-fired, integrated gasification, combined cycle projects and geothermal plants much faster in the growth regions of Africa and Asia rather than developed economies. The GDP growth rates of China, India and the Central East African Nations were the highest internationally in 2011.
