Food Security Development Centre
The Food Security Development Centre (“FSDC”), a not-for-profit organization established in Mauritius, is a partnership between Vita Grain Pte Ltd, the Mauritius Sugar Industry Research Institute (“MSIRI”) and the Food and Agricultural Research Council (“FARC”) to collaborate on research and development on hybrid rice and other food crops as well as the effects of climate change on crops.
Revenues of the FSDC will come partly from the rice lines that it develops and as per the MOA between the parties, such lines will be exclusively licensed via an Off-take Agreement to Vita Rice Limited.
The FSDC will become self sufficient in funds by charging out its work such as agronomic consulting.
